Tzarevo municipality is situated in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Bulgaria, 65 km south of the town of Bourgas.

It's east border is the Black sea, the westerly border is the adjacent municipality of Malko Tarnovo, Turkey is on the south and Primorsko municipality is on the north.

"Veleka" river, whose downstream (last ten kilometers) is navigable, is passing through the territory of the Tzarevo municipality as well.
